Where should I stay if I’m coming from out of town?
First of all, welcome! We love that you’re here. A lot of folks will be staying at Hotel Indigo in Williamsburg. We have a hotel block discount rate if you book through this link, but it’s still pretty pricey. We also recommend taking a look at hotels in Long Island City as they might be more affordable but are still really close to our venue.
What do you mean by “show”… I thought this was a wedding?
It’s both! We wanted to get married under an institution we both believed in, and we landed on ART! Our marriage ceremony will be a play/performance piece complete with cast and crew in lieu of a bridal party. The show will be based on one of our favorite stories from Plato’s Symposium and you can expect some audience participation.
What time is it again?
The doors will open at 5 and there will be some light snacks and drinks. The show starts at 6pm and will last about a half hour. We will eat, drink, and dance til’ 9 at the church, but then have to leave so the pastor can sleep. There will be an afterparty at Red Rover which is a 2 minute walk from the church.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
Yes!
Where should I park?
There is some street parking by the water, but we recommend taking the subway.
Where is the afterparty?
Just a two minute walk from the church! We will continue dancing and drinking at Red Rover. The address is 928 Manhattah Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11222.
What should I wear?
Late August in NYC is hot! We are asking everyone to wear their Valentine’s Day Best, mostly reds and pinks if you can. You don’t need to wear a suit or a gown, but if you own a red suit or a pink gown, by all means, go for it! We would rather you are comfy and on theme than formal and sweaty.
What else should I expect?
Yummy vegetarian food, big feelings of love and hope, some damn good music, and an incredible group of people you’ll want to get to know and stay in touch with.
